At 9:03 AM (in the beginning of this mornings snow storm) Chester County communications alerted Valley Forge (68), Kimberton (61), Phoenixville (65) and West End Ambulance (67), and Spring City (63) for RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) for a house fire in the 500 block of Valley Forge Road (Route 23) in Schuylkill Township. Deputy Chief Fink of the East Whiteland FD arrived first and reported fire showing from the 3rd floor with possible entrapment. Communications then alerted for a 'Working Fire' bring Tower 99 from Black Rock Fire, Air 51 from Linfield and an additional MICU from Trappe of Phoenixville. The 3 story home housed apartments on each floor. As crews stretched their hose lines to the 3rd floor, fleeing occupants advised them they too thought the 3rd floor tenant was trapped upstairs. Unfortunately the fire was too far advanced for crews to make it to her in time to save her. A lot of this occurred during some of the heaviest snow this morning. Five others were displaced by the fire and housing assistance was provided by the Red Cross.

Although the fire was quickly brought under control, crews remained on the scene with County & State Fire Marshals, as they investigated the cause and origin. They then worked with the Coroners office to remove the victim. Belfor Restorations secured the home. Units cleared the scene at 1:45 PM

Units: Engine 61, Tower 61, Rescue 61, Utility 61, Chief & Deputy 61.
