As KFC members were holding their monthly meeting at the fire station, they were alerted for an unknown type fire on Yellow Springs Road in West Pikeland Township. The alarm came in around 8:30 PM and the department made an immediate response. First in Chief Officers found a large brush fire to the rear of a property in the 1100 block of Bodine Road. Chief Gable assumed command and requested an engine from Lionville (47) FD and a brush unit from East Whiteland (05) Fire. Crews worked for over an hour to extinguish the fire, which had extended into a wood chip pile. The cause of the fire was determined to be due to improper disposal of ashes at the rear of the property. The fire kicked up with the winds as the rain front approached.
