Last week members completed a final inspection trip to Clintonville Wisconsin for the new Tower 61. Spending two days at the Seagrave factory, committee members had a chance to go over the custom piece of apparatus they had ordered eleven months earlier.

The new Tower 61 is a 2017 Seagrave Apollo II 105' Tower Ladder on a Marauder II chassis. it is powered by a 500 horsepower Cummins ISX12 engine, an Allison 4000 EVS Transmission, a Hale QMAX 2000 GPM pump, 300 gallons of water, TFT Monsoon 2000 GPM bucket monitor, 196' ground ladders, Whelen LED emergency lighting & 10 HiViz scene lights.

Day 1 consisted of going line by line over the specifications, and checking that each and every item worked as designed.

Day 2 started out with flowing some water through the tower main, flying the main, and some road tests. Later a detailed paint inspection, and a final walk through with the engineers.

The committee was impressed by the build quality, and commitment to customer satisfaction. The Kimberton Fire Company would also like to thank our salesman, Todd Fell, of Emergency Equipment Sales & Service LLC for his hard work in making this a great piece of equipment.

We expect the new truck to be making an appearance soon, before going out for tool & equipment mounting. A local vendor will complete the unit with custom graphics and gold leaf.

The former tower, a 1996 Simon Duplex was sold to the Marksville Volunteer Fire Department in Louisiana.
