At 5:39 AM Volunteers from Valley Forge (68) Fire, Tower 61 (Kimberton),Engine 65 (Phoenixville) and West End (67) Ambulance were alerted for a house fire on East Evergreen Drive in Schuylkill Township. Within minutes crews were arriving, finding a bi-level home with smoke showing. Before handlines made it to the front door, fire could be seen burning in a front-second floor bedroom. Chief 68 (Taylor) established command a requested a 'working fire' dispatch, bring the rest of the Kimberton and Phoenixville fire apparatus, as well as a MICU from Trappe (85) of Phoenixville and an air unit from the Friendship (66) Dive unit. Crews made a quick aggressive, interior attack and quickly knocked down the flames. Additional personnel checked for extension into the attic and began ventilation of the structure. Several small pets were lost in the room of origin. County Fire Investigators were on the scene investigating the cause of the fire. Belfor Restorations were on the scene prior to FD leaving, making sure the windows were boarded up due to bad weather. Kimberton Crews cleared the scene just after 8 AM, and began preparing for a rainy day doing their annual Santa Detail.
