Burning Ordinance

  1. You may burn leaves / brush /sticks-limbs without a permit. Any and all other materials require a permit. Check with your township. Rule of thumb: If it burns black, it is not acceptable.
  2. You must burn on your own property.
  3. Fire must be 50 feet away from buildings / structures and property line.
  4. You must notify the county Fire Dispatcher @ 610-933-8968 prior to igniting the fire, unless burning in a barrel/fireplace/incinerator.
  5. Fire can only burn between Sunup and Sunset.
  6. You must have a method for extinguishing the fire present (hose / water)
  7. You must have 15 feet of cleared area around the fire.
  8. You must have a responsible party in attendance at all times.
  9. You may NOT burn in the street or within 5 feet of a utility pole.
  10. Do Not burn when it is too dry or too windy (when in doubt, check with the county disp, see above)
  11. Fires that generate complaints are considered nuisance fires and may be extinguished by the Fire Dept.
  12. When in doubt, check with your local fire station or township building.
