School, Organization & Event VisitsAs an all volunteer organization whose members all come from within our community, Kimberton Fire Company takes an active role in our own and nearby communities both to build awareness of safety and fire prevention and to build good will, as well as to raise funds to keep our training and equipment top notch. Our members are available to visit your organization, school or event and can provide a variety of educational and fun fire prevention and safety teaching programs. FIREFIGHTERS VISIT RENAISSANCE ACADEMYTuesday October 21, 2003Kimberton & Valley Forge Firefighters spent the day working with the Kindergarten and 1st grade classes at the Renaissance Academy on the Valley Forge Christian College grounds on October 21st. While some children got to see the fire engines and equipment they carry, others went through the Family Safety Trailer. The trailer is broken into 3 different rooms and allows Fire personnel to teach 3 separate lessons to children before exiting through the rear window & down the escape ladder. In the final room artificial smoke fills the room and the smoke detector begins to sound. The victim in the bed must roll out of bed & stay low. The children must check the door for heat, and upon finding such should then identify another means of egress. They then craw to the window & make the escape. In the other rooms children learn about safety in the kitchen, living room, fire place safety and placing calls to 9-1-1. KIMBERTON FIREFIGHTERS VISIT ZION LUTHERAN FOR FIRE PREVENTION WEEKCareer and volunteer fighters from the Kimberton Fire Department went to the Zion Lutheran Day Care Center to visit with pre-schoolers and begin their early recognition of the fire service. Kimberton Firefighters Participate in Charlestown Hunt Community DaySaturday, September 27, 2003 Kimberton Volunteer Firefighters participated in the annual Community Day at the Charlestown Hunt Development. Fire Crews spent several hours showing the Fire Apparatus to the local children while others used Patches and Pumper (the talking/moving-Robotronics) unit to interact with children. Patches & Pumper is a favorite among kids and allows them to interact with Sparky. click for bigger picture While crews were out doing this, other Kimberton firefighters were in New Castle County, Delaware covering for crews at the Holloway Terrace Fire Company.
