Burning Ordinances

If you plan to burn outside please make sure you check with your township first. Some townships do not allow burning, for example East Pikeland Township does not allow outdoor burning. (Ordinance No. 136 Section 600, enacted 09/02/08).

Charlestown Township, West Vincent Township, East Vincent Township and West Pikeland Township all have various regulations regarding outdoor burning. Please check with your township prior to any outdoor burning.

If you have obtained permission from your township, you must call the Chester County Fire Board at 610 933-8966 before you start and after you finish burning. This will prevent the fire company from being accidentally dispatched. 

REMEMBER:  No matter what Township you reside in…… All burning must be completed (COMPLETELY OUT) by Dark.  There is no burning allowed after dark in the State of Pennsylvania.

Please be careful. Open burning should never be unattended, a charged garden hose should be at the burn location, and must be at least 50' from any building. Do not wear loose clothing that may come in contact with the flames.
