MUTUAL AID TO PHOENIXVILLE ON 2-ALARM ROW HOME FIREMonday February 12, 2007At 0708 hours Chester County communications alerted Phoenixville Fire (65,66,67), Tower 61 (Kimberton), Engine 68-1 (Valley Forge) for a house fire on Second Avenue in Phoenixville. Responding Units did not have a difficult time locating the actual address due to the large column of smoke visible from several blocks out which led them to Grover St. First in crews encountered heavy fire conditions in the rear of 352, 350 and 354 Grover St and also heavy smoke pushing from the roof line across the group of 5 row homes. Deputy 65 (Gable) assumed command and struck a 2nd Alarm and also added two additional truck companies, the balance of Station 68 & Rescue 61 in addition to the 2nd Alarm. Truck crews worked quickly to trench cut the roof and contain the fire to the original group of 5 homes and prevent extension down the rest of the block. The bulk of the fire was knocked down in about 15 minutes with the official under control time about 2 hours later. Assisting on scene were: Spring City (Ladder 63), Lionville (Tower 47), Medic 325 (Royersford EMS) ,Oaks (Squad 63-for RIT) and Com-1 (Chester County communications Unit). Chester County and State Police FM's (FM-100/101/104) are investigating the cause which is still unknown at this time. Units clearer the scene by 1030 hours.
