MULCH & SHRUBBERY FIRE  SPREAD TO TOWN HOMES

Monday April 30, 2007

At 1600 hours the County communications center alerted Kimberton Fire (61) for a trash fire on Cumberland Court in the Kimberton Knoll town homes. Engine 61-1 was driving past the development (returning from another detail) when the alarm came in and arrived within moments. Engine 61-1 arrived in moments to find a wind driven fire spreading rapidly through the bushes and mulch along the row of homes from 1514 to 1511 Cumberland Court. They also noted smoke coming from the building itself. They immediately requested the full box assignment for a dwelling fire bringing Ladder 65 (Phoenixville Fire), MICU 67, the balance of Kimberton Fire (61 & 72) and a pumper tanker from Ridge Fire (62). The first-in engine made quick work of the fire spreading across the front of the units & then went to work with the incoming units to open up the townhouse units and access the fire. Chief Fields had command and the fire was placed under control at 1630 after checking multiple units for extension.
