ARSON FIRE HITS REDNER'S WAREHOUSE MARKET

Saturday July 14, 2007

At 1730 hours Chester County communications alerted Kimberton Fire (61 & 72), Phoenix #1 (65), Ridge Fire (62), and West End EMS (67), to Redner's Warehouse Market on Schuylkill Road for a building fire. Chief Gable (Chief 65), was the first to arrive and assumed command. Units found a heavily charged building with fire in aisle 4B (in the paper towel section). The sprinkler system held the fire in check and fire crews finished off the fire and began the extensive job of ventilation. Tower 47 from Lionville also assisted on scene with smoke removal. County and State Police FM’s ruled the fire to be arson. Losses were around $1,000.000 and the store remained closed for a week while store employees and Belfor Restorations cleaned the store and the Health Dept gave it a clean bill of health. Units cleared around 2215 Hrs.
