VEHICLE MISSES TURN IN SNOW STORM
STRIKES HOUSE AFTER LANDING ON IT’S SIDE

Tuesday March 8, 2005

At 1226 Hours Chester County communications alerted Kimberton Fire (61) & West End Ambulance (67) for an accident at School House Lane & Hollow Roads in West Vincent Township. Road conditions were very poor, as it snowed and roadways were snow covered & icy.

The van carrying two occupants slid through a fence and over the embankment, landing on it’s side & bounced off a home. The vehicle then knocked over a propane bottle attached to the home causing a propane leak. The two in the van managed to climb over debris and squeeze out a side window.

Firefighters shut off the propane and disconnected the bottle from the home in addition to assisting the tow truck company in an extensive vehicle removal.

Chief Fields had command & units cleared by 1345 Hours.

CHIMNEY FIRE IN KIMBERTON

Tuesday March 8, 2005

Firefighters just began warming up from the previous accident when they were alerted for a chimney fire on Covered Bridge Lane in East Pikeland Township. Communications alerted Kimberton Fire(61) & Spring-Ford Rescue Sub-station (72) at 1406 hours.

Fire personnel found a wood stove with a clogged flu pipe and began laddering the home & cleaning out the firebox. Units made quick work of the blockage and ventilated the home.

On scene: Engine 61-1, Tower 61, Rescue 72, Squad 72. Chief 61 (Fields) had command.

Units cleared by 1456 Hrs.
