CAR OVERTURNS ON CHARLESTOWN ROADFriday June 25,2010.At 4:51 PM Chester County communications alerted Kimberton Fire (61) and MICU 67 for an accident with reported entrapment at 2217 Charlestown Road in Charlestown Twp. Kimberton Firefighters immediately responded with Rescue 61, Engine 61-1 and Traffic 61. Upon arrival crews found an overturned Jeep Grand Cherokee in the street. The driver had crawled free prior to the arrival of fire and EMS crews. Fire Police immediately closed down Charlestown Road while EMS personnel checked the driver for injuries. The driver refused services and the FD assisted in cleaning up the scene. Crews cleared at 5:34 PM. Deputy Chief Pollinger had command. Photos by Assistant Chief Fields Kimberton Assists Phoenixville at Scrap Yard FireFriday June 11, 2010On Friday June 11, 2010 at 10:04am The Kimberton Fire Company was dispatched to assist the Phoenixville Fire Department at the Phoenixville Scrap Yard on St. Mary’s Street. There were numerous cars and scrap metal that were on fire with several explosions. Engine 61-1 was assigned to enter the scrap yard to supply additional foam. Rescue 61 laid a 5” supply line to a hydrant on Needle Street. Firefighters assisted with handlines and extinguishment. Due to the runoff of water, there was an environmental concern and a containment pit was constructed and oil boom and absorbent pads were applied. Containment 61 also responded and supplied additional equipment. Crews remained on location until the fire was extinguished and overhaul was complete. Also assisting Phoenixville were the Valley Forge, Mont Clare, Paoli Fire Companies and the North Penn Goodwill Canteen Service. RUSH HOUR CRASH CAUSES TRAFFIC MESS ON ROUTE 113Thursday June 10, 2010.AT 5;15 PM Kimberton Firefighters and West End Ambulance of Phoenixville were dispatched to an accident on Route 113 at Kimberton Rd in Chester Springs. Kimberton rescue personnel responded with Rescue 61 , Engine 61-2 and Traffic 61. Upon arrival crews found a 3 car accident blocking traffic and a sizeable traffic mess. Although nobody required transport to the hospital, crews worked to get Route 113 shut down between Pikeland Road & North Chester Springs Rd. Crews then began assisting in fluid control and debris clean-up while tow truck operators loaded up the damaged cars. Deputy Chief Pollinger had command. Photos by Asst Chief Fields Accident with Entrapment on Route 23 at Hares Hill RoadMay 17, 2010On May 17, 2010 at 10:53 AM, the Kimberton Fire Company and West End Ambulance were dispatched to a vehicle accident with entrapment at the intersection of Route 23 and Hares Hill Road. Firefighters responded with Rescue 61 and Engine 61-1. Upon arrival crews found a two vehicle crash with the driver of one vehicle trapped inside. Firefighters popped the driver’s door and cut off the vehicle’s roof to access the patient. Extrication was completed with 20 minutes. Rescue personnel then worked with EMS to help board and stabilize the patient for transport to Phoenixville Hospital. The Roadway was closed by Fire Police from the Ridge Fire Company. House Fire in East PikelandOn January 5th at 4:00am the Kimberton Fire Company along with Royersford Fire Company and Phoenixville Ambulance were dispatched to assist Spring City Fire Company at a house fire in the 600 block of Schuylkill Road in East Pikeland Township. East Pikeland Police arrived on location and reported a working house fire. A second alarm was requested and Valley Forge and Ridge Fire Companies were dispatched. The crews were able to bring the fire under control without any additional damage and spent several hours on location completing overhaul of the building. The occupant was home at the time and smelled smoke and heard crackling from the fire. The fire was determined to be accidental by the Chester County Fire Marshalls office. There were no injuries. Lionville and Norco Fire Companies relocated to Spring City and Paoli Fire Company relocated to Kimberton. Two Alarm House FireDecember 23, 2009At 2018 hours Chester County communications alerted Kimberton Fire (61), Lionville Fire (47), and Ludwigs Corner Fire (73) for a house fire on Art School Road in West Pikeland Twp. Police reported heavy smoke in the area. Incoming crews were also advised of reports of flames in the walls. With heavy smoke conditions, crews went into service with attack lines on the first and second floors. The fire was quickly upgraded to a second alarm bringing in Phoenixville (65), Valley Forge (68), and East Whiteland (5). Due to the type of building construction (balloon), the fire rapidly spread through many of the interior walls and soon involved all floors of the house. The fire was reported as under control at around 2200 hours. The last unit cleared the scene at 0117. Weekend Snow StormDecember 19-20, 2009During the storm a crew of volunteers remained at the station around the clock, clearing snow, running on fire calls and assisting with EMS calls. Anytime, day or night, rain or shine, or in this case - snow, we'll be there, providing professional services from volunteer forces. Two Accidents in One Day on Route 29Sunday, December 13, 2009At around 0830 hours, Station 61 and MICU 67 were dispatched to an auto accident on Route 29 near Pickering Dam Road. Crews were advised by the County dispatch to use caution due to slippery road conditions. Units arrived on scene to find a minor vehicle accident with no serious injuries. At around 2350 hours, that same day, Station 61 and MICU 67 were dispatched to an auto accident on Route 29 in the area of the Pickering Dam. Crews arrived to find a single vehicle accident, with the patient's injuries requiring rapid transport to a trauma center via helicopter. Engine 61-1 landed Skycare at Charlestown Hunt. Rescue 61 remained at the scene of the accident until being released by PSP. Kimberton Assists Phoenixville on Multiple Alarm House FireFriday, December 11, 2009At 0158 hours, Chester County communications alerted Phoenixville Fire (65,66,67), Tower 61 (Kimberton), Engine 68-1 (Valley Forge) for a house fire on Washington Avenue in Phoenixville. With heavy fire showing, Tower 61 staged at the rear of the house and its crew went in service with multiple hand lines from the truck. A search of the building discovered a victim in the residence who did not survive. Extensive overhaul was preformed and the fire was under control at 0316 hrs and the units cleared by 0830. On October 20, 2009 Kimberton Fire Company and Valley Forge Fire Company were dispatched to one of the dorms at the Valley Forge Christian College for a building fire. Units arrived on scene and found a heavy smoke condition on the first floor. The students evacuated the building prior to the fire companies arrival. Firefighters found an exhaust fan, ceiling material and flooring material on fire in a common bathroom on the first floor. Phoenixville Fire Department was requested to assist with manpower. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire and ventilate the smoke from the building. There were no injuries. The fire was determined to be accidental. On October 14, 2009 Kimberton Fire Company, Phoenixville Fire Department, Valley Forge Fire Company and Ridge Fire Company were alerted to a house fire in the 200 block of Cold Stream Road in East Pikeland Township. Units arrived on scene and found fire showing from the front of a 1 ½ story house. Firefighters worked together to quickly extinguished the fire before any additional damage occurred. There were no injuries. The homeowners were not home at the time. The fire was determined to be accidental. On July 7, 2009 The Kimberton Fire Company assisted East Whiteland Fire Company on Tudor Court in Charlestown Township with a working house fire. The fire company assisted with overhaul and checking for extension into the neighboring houses. Malvern Fire Company and West End Ambulance also assisted East Whiteland at the fire. On June 19, 2009 the Kimberton Fire Company responded to a house fire on Maryhill Road in Charlestown Township. They were assisted by Phoenixville and Valley Forge Fire Companies. The fire company found a working fire in the ceiling of the kitchen. The fire was quickly brought under control. The fire companies remained on location completing overhaul and smoke removal. Lionville Fire Company relocated to Kimberton to cover the three companies.
Building Fire in East PikelandJanuary 2, 2009At 1230am on January 2nd the Kimberton and Spring City Fire Departments were dispatched to a building fire at 675 Schuylkill Road in East Pikeland Township. First arriving units found heavy smoke from a two story building. The building had a garage/warehouse on the first floor and an occupied apartment on the second floor. Fire crews located and extinguished the fire which was on both the first and second floor. Extensive overhaul was required to establish complete extinguishment. Kimberton was also assisted by Phoenixville Fire Department and Friendship Fire Co. of Royersford. WORKING HOUSE FIRE IN CHESTER SPRINGS WITH LIONVILLE FDWednesday December 3, 2008At 4:42 PM Chester County 911 began receiving calls for a garage on fire on Horseshoe Trail Rd in West Pikeland Twp. Chester County Dispatchers Alerted Lionville Fire (47), Kimberton (61), and Uwchlan Ambulance (87) to the alarm. With a report of a working fire in an attached garage, Chief 47 requested a tanker from Ludwigs Corner (73), and Engine from East Whiteland (05), and Medic 87 from Uwchlan. Engine 61-1 and Tanker 61 were the first to arrive and began the fire attack. They were quickly joined by Lionville firefighters and the crews made an aggressive attack on the fire. Tank trucks hauled water into the fire grounds as crews knocked down the bulk of the fire. The Fire was placed under control at 5:22 PM and crews continued to overhaul hot spots until after 7 PM. County Fire Marshals Investigated the fire and determined it to be accidental. The Homeowner was transported to Phoenixville Hospital for smoke inhalation by Uwchlan Ambulance.
