At 5:31 AM Firefighters from Kimberton (61) Fire were alerted for a Chimney fire on Kimbel Drive in East Pikeland Twp. County Dispatchers then upgraded the alarm to a house fire and dispatched Phoenixville(65), Valley Forge (68) Fire and West End Ambulance. Deputy Chief Fields put on his air pack and took a pressured water extinguisher inside to try and darken down the fire. Upon coming back out he assumed Command and directed the engine in the driveway. The Crew pulled a hand line advanced it into the living room to finish off the fire. Crews made quick work of the fire, and within minutes were venting the home and checking for extension. The fire was then placed under control and some of the fire units were released. The cause of the fire is listed as 'accidental' and damages were listed around $30,000. An engine from the Ridge Fire Company stood by at Station 61, while Kimberton crews were committed.
