Firefighters from Kimberton, Valley Forge and Phoenixville participated in a presentation made by Chief A.J. Schall from Aetna Fire Company in Newark, Delaware. Chief Schall presented a firsthand account of a structure fire that he was part of on October 29, 2000. Relatively new to the fire service then, Schall and two other firemen found themselves quickly overwhelmed during what initially seemed to be a quick attack and overhaul fire. Little did the three realize that one of their own would be critically burned and that all of them would be forever impacted by the events that took place that evening and in the months following.

On behalf of Valley Forge Fire Company and the Phoenixville Fire Department, Kimberton Fire Company would like to thank Chief Schall for taking the time to come to Kimberton and so openly discuss what went well, what didn't go so well and how things have changed for the better based on the incident. It's clear that we can all learn from the unfortunate chain of events that occurred.
