Saturday January 8, 2022. Kimberton Firefighters were awoken at 3:34 AM for a report of an unknown type fire in the 2300 block of Pikeland Road in Charlestown Township. Deputy 61 arrived to find a vehicle well involved in fire after striking a wall. He quickly confirmed nobody was in the auto and updated incoming units and the police. Kimberton volunteers responded with Rescue 61, Tac 61 and Engine 61. Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire and had it under control in minutes, but not before having gutted the car. State Police, Township Police and fire crews checked the area for the driver with no luck. With temps hovering around 15 degrees Fahrenheit, PennDOT was notified to bring out salt for the roadway.
