Labor Day, Monday September 1, 2014. As volunteer crews covered the station during the Holiday, they were alerted to an accident on Route 113 & Hares Hill Rd in East Pikeland Township. Deputy Chief Fields was the first to arrive and directed operations. The alarm came in at 4:09 PM (1609 hours) and the Units were on scene within 4 minutes. Assisting Kimberton Fire (61) was MICU 67 from West End EMS in Phoenixville and MICU 85 (Trappe EMS – Phoenixville division). Crews found two (2) injured with one complaining of severe neck and back pain. Also complicating the removal would be that the car ended up next to a gully creating the need for additional help to remove the subject. Kimberton Rescue crews assisted West End in Packaging & Boarding the patient for removal from the one auto. Fire police closed Route 113 the entire time. Firefighters then cleared debris and fluids from the roadway. One patient went to Phoenixville Hospital and the other to Paoli’s Trauma center. The roadway was opened at 5:17 PM.
