Saturday July 30th. At 5:36 AM Firefighters from Kimberton, Phoenixville, Valley Forge and Ridge fire departments were alerted for a barn fire on Prizer Road in East Pikeland Township. Chief 61 was the first to arrive and found a barn well involved in fire and wires down and burning in the front yard. The Chief called for tankers which brought: Lionville, Glenmoore and Ludwigs Corner to the scene. Firefighters rescued a cow and two pigs from the barn. Royersford & Spring City also assisted with manpower on the fire. East Whiteland Fire Co handled a fire alarm for Kimberton during the fire and Kimberton crews ran two more calls after getting back from the barn fire. We'd like to thank the surrounding FD's for their assistance at the fire. County Fire Investigators were on the scene investigating the origin. Crews are cleaning up now and headed back to the fairgrounds for the last night of the Kimberton Fair which opens at 4 PM today.
The Kimberton FD and community Fair later donated 7 chicken BBQ tickets and two ride wrist bands (for the children) to the family -so they could come enjoy the last day of the fair. A firefighter also went and got their cow a new Holster to wear.
