At 2:50 PM Kimberton (61) firefighters were alerted for a brush fire on Eastwick Drive off Church Road in Charlestown Township. Within moments the Chief and Brush unit were on the way. The Chief then called for the tanker due to the column of smoke in the sky. In the next several minutes crews responded with the Engine, Tac unit, Tanker and Utility unit. As the fire spread across several hedgerows and fields, Chief 61 requested an additional brush unit from Station 5 (east Whiteland Fire). Brisk winds rapidly pushed the fire across the open land. Crews worked for several hours mopping up all the hot spots to ensure the fire would not reignite. The cause was determined to be accidental.
