Just before 11:30 PM Valley Forge Fire (68) was alerted for a car fire at the University of Valley Forge. Minutes later a report indicated the vehicle up against the building. With that report County dispatchers alerted Kimberton (61) and Phoenixville (65) Fire. First in units found a Chevy Cobalt up against a building (on South Maranatha Ave) and HVAC unit well involved in fire. As firefighters pulled hose lines, several explosions rocked the car as smoke blanketed the complex. As firefighters from Valley Forge extinguished the car fire, crews from 61 & 65 opened up the Flower Chapel to find heavy smoke banked down to the floor. Interior crews searched thru the heavy smoke only to find there was no actual fire in the structure. They then spent the next two (2) hours working to remove smoke from the building. Several firefighters fell on the ice due to the frigid temperatures, but none required transport to a hospital.
