Monday, April 13, 2015. At 2:10 PM Chester County communications alerted Kimberton (61) Fire, Ridge (62) Fire, Ladder 65 (Phoenixville) and West End (67) EMS for a structure fire at the Kimbertal Kennels in West Vincent Twp. This facility is well known throughout the tri-state area for its Dobermans. The Chief and Deputy Chief were the first to arrive and found smoke coming from the wall next to the electric meter. The Chief geared up and took operations while the Deputy Chief assumed the Command function. Local Police Officers coming to assist helped remove the dogs from the building. An incoming fire unit stopped a passing Utility Company (PECO) truck and brought them to the scene. Power was disconnected to the building and firefighters opened the wall to expose all the hidden fire. The fire was placed under control at 2:40 PM. County Fire Investigator Harrison (Digger) Holt responded to the scene and worked with the PECO rep to determine the cause of the fire. The damages were estimated at $1500 and the cause was listed as an electrical fault in a wall mounted exhaust fan. Units cleared the scene at 4 PM.
