Wednesday March 09, 2022. At 8:39 this morning as the snow kicked into high gear, Firefighters from Ludwigs Corner, Kimberton and Ridge Fire Stations were alerted for an outbuilding on fire in the 2500 block of Flowing Springs Road. The fire was reported in the chicken coop next to the barn. Within minutes calls indicated the fire had spread to the barn and it was well involved in fire also. Kimberton crews responded with the Tower, Tanker and an engine. Command also requested a tanker task force for additional water. Firefighters quickly knocked down the bulk of the fire upon arrival, but not before it destroyed the chicken coop and about 2/3 of the barn. They then spent the next couple hours wetting down hot spots in the barn. Some chickens were rescued, and crews were back in service by 11:15 AM.
