Kimberton Crews assist on Schuylkill River Island fire

Sunday June 9, 2024. Kimberton firefighters were called to assist crews from Chester & Montgomery County at an island on fire in the Schuylkill River around 4 PM. The island's location was down by the Fitzwater Station on Canal Street in Mont Clare. Boats were called from several stations and sent to depart from Lock 60. Kimberton was sent to provide manpower and equipment for the boats. Lock 60 was partially shutdown due to the number of fire units coming into stage in the parking areas. Kimberton FD crews returned to the station around 8:30 PM. Montgomery County personnel were to return on Monday to dig out hot spots.
